Vaguely famous rapper Soulja Boy is currently taking heat for the above Cribs-style video (cleverly titled "Rich Nigga Shit") in which he blows his nose on money and drives a Segway across his carpeted living room. Vulture, however, would like to congratulate him on his lovely home and commend him for doing exactly what any perfectly reasonable person (including us) would do with a modest fortune. A small mansion, Gucci sheets, and a bathrobe with his name embroidered on the back (which, truthfully, looks totally sweet) are hardly Hammer-size expenditures. And if Soulja Boy can't roll like this, what's the point of working in the first place?

Comedian Andy Dick was arrested on drug and sexual battery charges. Dick was nabbed in a Murrieta, California parking lot after he allegedly groped a 17-year-old girl and then pulled the teenager's tank top and bra down, exposing her breasts (the incident occurred outside a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant). During a subsequent search, police discovered a small amount of marijuana in Dick's pants pocket and a single Xanax pill for which he did not have a prescription. An "extremely intoxicated" Dick was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on $5000 bail.

From Oscar-wining director Alex Gibney and producer Graydon Carter comes a probing look into the uncanny life of national treasure and gonzo journalism inventor Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. A fast moving, wildly entertaining documentary with an iconic soundtrack, the film addresses the major touchstones in Thompson’s life-his intense and ill fated relationship with the Hell’s Angels, his near-successful bid for the office of sheriff in Aspen in 1970, the notorious story behind the landmark Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, his deep involvement in Senator George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign, and much more. Narrated by Johnny Depp.

Standing in David Altmejd’s gothic-surreal show is like being in a forest of freakish giants from the dawn of time. Nine twelve-foot-tall colossi tower above you like oversize werewolves, rotting Wookiees, or sculptures of pharaohs from some sci-fi porn planet. It’s an Oedipal grove of powerful deteriorating fathers and beautiful but monstrous sons. These creatures have mirrored derrières, plump penises decorated as if by a jeweler, gashes in colorful torsos, dozens of hands holding giant testicles or crystalline daggers. One figure has a peacock encircling each thigh; two have twisting energy fields or stigmata sprouting from hands and heads.

NEWARK, Ohio -- A Licking County teenager was arrested this week and charged with giving marijuana to a toddler. Angel Dailey, 16, pleaded not guilty to two delinquency counts of corrupting another with drugs and one charge of child endangerment.
Dailey is the daughter of a Licking County man arrested in March during a drug raid at his Pataskala home, according to an assistant prosecutor.
The DEA stepped in because of his possible connection to the case against Dailey's father, Donald Dailey. Oswalt said no local charges will be filed against the 18-year-old if corresponding federal charges are filed.
Donald Dailey was arrested in March after federal investigators pulled out $3.2 million in cash from the walls of his home at 6397 Watkins Rd. Authorities carried out 2,100 pounds of marijuana from a trailer parked in the driveway. Donald Dailey's brother, Tim Dailey, also was arrested.

There was a Sean Bell protest the other day blocking the entrance to the Holland Tunnel....We watched from our office window.
The Riott police came out to say what up
People were interlocking arms and stopping the cars from entering the tunnel....i have mixed feelings on this....I think the Sen Bell situation is FUCKED UP!.....and i think those cops should go to jail....but blocking the tunnel while hard working people are commuting home at 5 o'clock is bullshit. Like go rally in front of the police station or a government building but interrupting innocent peoples lives is bullshit.
people in their cars were gettin pissed off and started driving towards the protesters...look how close the people are to the cars....feel bad for home boy in the Audi people were yellin in his face.
So people protested and wouldn't get out of the entrance to the tunnel so they got locked....i seen the cops put cuffs on about 15 people...they brought out the wagon. This system is so messed up its hard to address....all i can say is i give credit to those willing to be arrested for there beliefs....i dont agree with blocking traffic but it is a noble thing to do none the less.

At the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night, Chris Rock brought his A-game, even if we'd already read most of his good lines in recent profiles. Here are the best of the rest:
1. Calling for a hit on Flavor Flav: "He needs to be killed. Flavor Flav must be killed. I'm serious" — because he worries that Republican operatives will try to use Flav to bring down Obama. "Would you vote for somebody who has anything in common with Flav?"
2. On his neighbors: "[My only three black neighbors are] Mary J. Blige, one of the greatest singers of all time, Denzel Washington, one of the greatest actors of all time, and Jay-Z, one of the greatest rappers of all time." His white neighbor? "A dentist. And he isn't like the greatest dentist in history either. I had to host the Oscars to get that house — a black dentist in my neighborhood would have to invent teeth."
3. On John McCain: "We don't need a president with a bucket list. Who's going to be his VP? A nurse?"
4. On Clinton's experience: "My wife, we've been married 10 years, but if she got on stage now, y'all wouldn't laugh at all."
5. On Obama: "We've never seen a black man so cool — that wasn't in the music business..." ...and Reverend Wright: "Have you ever met a 75-year-old black man in this country that wasn't angry? I mean, they have a few reasons."
6. On voting: "They don't want you to vote. If they did, we wouldn't vote on a Tuesday. In November. You ever throw a party on a Tuesday? No. Because nobody would come."
"In 2006, a book by sociologist Luiz Eduardo Soares and one BOPE officer and a former policeman, Major André Batista and Captain Rodrigo Pimentel, provided a semi-fictional account of the daily routine of the BOPE as well as some historical events, based on the experiences of the latter two. The book was controversial at the time of release, and reportedly resulted in Batista being reprimanded and censured by the Military Police. The book was controversial in its description of the BOPE as a "killing machine", as well as detailing an alleged aborted assassination attempt by some police officers on then-governor Leonel Brizola. The book has been made into a movie, Tropa de Elite, directed by José Padilha (the director of Bus 174), with a screenplay by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Bráulio Mantovani."
This movie makes City of God look like a walk in the park. Elite squad is the best movie ever made, I dare you to challenge. BOPE

Police busted nearly 400,000 people for carrying small amounts of pot in the last decade, making New York City the world leader in marijuana arrests, civil rights advocates said yesterday while unveiling a study criticizing the war on drugs. Police officials countered by saying the report was flawed and misleading. The study by Queens College sociologist Harry G. Levin titled " Marijuana Arrest Crusade" accused police of targeting minorities.

The men who dedicate their lives to it are wanderers, itinerant labourers in search of fame, or the sons of boxers - born into the ring.
"Dembe", as it is called in Hausa, is exceedingly dangerous. Serious injury, and even death, are a real risk.

Michael Brick of the New York Times reports on an intricate Brooklyn drug trade...
It was a big show of force: 60 people under arrest, 5 gangs vanquished, more than 200 criminal charges, a $1.5 million narcotics enterprise shattered and an urban village of 3,500 liberated.
His choice of words signaled an aggressive change in prosecution tactics. Prosecutors planned to file felony conspiracy charges. That approach, long used against Mafia suspects, could produce sentences unheard of among the housing project’s pushers, lookouts and addicts: life in prison.
Again and again in the years to come, similar raids concentrated on housing projects in Coney Island, Fort Greene and East New York. The numbers peaked with the arrest of more than 140 people at the Red Hook Houses in 2006. Nearly all the defendants were charged with first-degree conspiracy, their bail set at $100,000, sometimes $1 million. Tenant associations and community boards lavished praise on the district attorney.
But soon, the strategy stumbled at the courthouse steps.
Judges rebuked the prosecution tactics. Juries rejected the conspiracy charges.
And after six years, eight major operations and more than 500 arrests, no one has been convicted of first-degree conspiracy. Instead, many defendants have spent a year or more on Rikers Island, awaiting trials that in the end never come. Typically, they plead guilty to lesser crimes, are sentenced to time served and then are released.

New details regarding Shakur's 1994 shooting at Quad Recording Studios...
"Newly discovered information, including interviews with people who were at the studio that night, lends credence to Shakur's insistence that associates of rap impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs were behind the assault. Their alleged motives: to punish Shakur for disrespecting them and rejecting their business overtures and, not incidentally, to curry favor with Combs.
The information focuses on two New York hip-hop figures -- talent manager James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond and promoter James Sabatino, who is now in prison for unrelated crimes.
According to this information, Rosemond and Sabatino, infuriated by what they saw as Shakur's insolent behavior, enticed him to the Quad by offering him $7,000 to provide a vocal track for a rap recording."
Always bet on 50.

It's been announced that Brooklyn rapper Jamal Woolard (a.k.a. Gravy) will play Notorious B.I.G. in the forthcoming Fox Searchlight biopic Notorious. Woolard, a non-actor, is probably best known as the guy who got shot in the ass near radio station Hot 97 in 2006 but went upstairs and gave an interview on the Funkmaster Flex show anyway. As Nah Right and Idolator point out, he'd been rumored to have won the role almost two years ago (pre-ass-shooting), so those open casting calls last October were probably just a publicity stunt (meaning producers likely didn't even watch our audition tape!). Still, we're not too disappointed.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Letters claiming responsibility for the bombing of a military recruiting station in New York's Times Square arrived in the Washington offices of several members of Congress on Thursday, just hours after the blast, authorities said.
Police are searching for a hooded bicyclist seen on a surveillance tape just before an early morning bombing at the office, according to the FBI.
The letters sent to Capitol Hill contained at least one picture of the station, apparently before the attack, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told CNN.
Police knew of fewer than 10 of the letters that had been received by members of Congress, a second law enforcement source said.
The letters were all received by Democrats, another law enforcement source said.
They contained a picture of a man standing in front of the recruiting station with the statement "We did it," according to an e-mail sent by the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, and obtained by CNN.
"He is standing in front of it with his arms spread out and he's attached his political manifesto," the message said.
An e-mail sent to members of Congress from Capitol Police described the letters as arriving in 5-by-8-inch manila envelopes. The e-mail warned recipients not to open them, but to contact police immediately.
